In a decisive crackdown on drug trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Cell of Chandigarh Police arrested Harshvardhan Naharwal, 43, from Sector 24, Chandimandir, on charges of drug possession and peddling. The arrest was made near the IT Park road between Sector 24 and Sector 28, based on a tip-off.
Acting swiftly, a police team led by Sub-Inspector Praveen Kumar intercepted a Skoda car and detained Naharwal. Upon searching the vehicle, police recovered 23 grams of MDMA (Ecstasy) and 150 grams of charas, both illegal narcotics under Indian law.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Amit Dahiya confirmed that Naharwal has been remanded to six days of police custody for interrogation. Authorities are working to uncover the source of the narcotics, the supply chain, and potential links to larger drug networks.
It has also come to light that the accused has a prior drug trafficking case registered in Himachal Pradesh, making him a repeat offender.
The case has been registered under Sections 20(B)(II)(B) and 22(C) of the NDPS Act at Chandimandir Police Station. Police reaffirmed their commitment to the “Drug-Free Haryana” initiative, pledging to root out organized narcotics rings.
