A shocking case of animal cruelty surfaced this week as a man in Greater Noida was captured on video beating and throwing his pet dog to the ground. The incident took place in Mahagun Mantra Society, and the video quickly went viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage.
Initially, viewers believed the individual in the footage was a woman, owing to their appearance — long hair and feminine clothing. However, Inspector Anil Kumar Pandey of Ecotech-3 Police Station clarified that the person was actually Harishankar Gupta, a 40-year-old man who cross-dresses.
“In the blurry video, it appeared to be a woman, but our investigation revealed that the accused is a man. He was identified as Harishankar Gupta,” the officer said.
Outrage followed swiftly online. Several users condemned the act, and Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon joined the protest, demanding strict action against Gupta in a post on social media.
Authorities confirmed that an FIR has been registered and appropriate legal action is underway under relevant animal cruelty laws. Police are also verifying if Gupta has a history of similar behavior.
