In a major bust, the Highway Police in Mathura arrested Harish Kumar, alias Saurav Srivastava, for allegedly impersonating officials from multiple armed forces and committing fraud, cheating, and exploitation of women.
The accused posed as an Assistant Commandant of the CRPF, and also falsely claimed affiliations with the BSF, Crime Branch, and other security forces. His primary method of deception involved promising government jobs and false assurances of marriage, often targeting women.
According to SP Arvind Kumar, the arrest followed a complaint by a woman who had been duped by the accused. A deeper investigation revealed that Harish Kumar had cheated multiple victims using fake identities and was already married while luring other women with marriage promises.
This is not Kumar’s first offense — he was earlier arrested in Allahabad for similar fraudulent activities.
Items recovered from the accused include:
Fake CRPF uniform, belt, and nameplate
Multiple Aadhaar cards, ATM cards, and blank cheques
Driving licence and mobile phones
A laptop and a Brezza car
Further investigations revealed that Harish Kumar had been working as an insurance agent. Under this cover, he would visit police and paramilitary camps, taking photos and videos to create a convincing persona, which he later used to deceive people into believing he held official authority.
The police are expanding the probe to trace additional victims and possible accomplices. Authorities have urged the public to verify official credentials before trusting individuals claiming government or security force affiliations.
