The CIA-1 unit Kurukshetra Police has arrested two men, Happy Kashyap and Rajkumar alias Raju, in connection with the murder of Jai Bhagwan, whose body was discovered in agricultural fields on February 26.
The accused, residents of Aara Colony, Dhurala, were presented before a court, which sent them to a three-day police remand.
According to Naresh Kumar, Jai Bhagwan’s body was found under the jurisdiction of the Jhansa Police Station. Police and forensic teams promptly reached the spot, and teams from CIA-1, CIA-2, CIA-Ladwa, and Jhansa police stations were directed to trace the accused. After postmortem procedures, the body was handed over to the family, and a murder case was registered on the complaint of the victim’s brother, Karamjeet.
On February 28, the CIA-1 team arrested Happy Kashyap and Rajkumar. CIA-1 in-charge Jasbir Singh stated that Jai Bhagwan was known to have an addiction and had recently been caught stealing. The accused reportedly spotted him at night in the Dhurala area, suspecting him of intending to steal.
The following day, the accused confronted Jai Bhagwan near the fields. A verbal spat broke out, during which the accused allegedly strangulated him using a piece of cloth the victim was wearing. The court has remanded both accused to police custody for further investigation.
