MAMMOTH LAKES, Calif. (TMZ) — Former child star Haley Joel Osment was arrested on April 8, 2025, after being found intoxicated and in possession of a controlled substance at Mammoth Mountain Resort in California. Authorities were called to the scene just after 2 pm, where Osment was seen accompanied by ski patrol.

Following his arrest, Osment was released shortly after and is now awaiting confirmation on whether the court will pursue the case. The actor, best known for his Oscar-nominated role in the 1999 hit The Sixth Sense, is facing legal challenges as he reflects on a difficult year.

Haley Joel Osment’s Hollywood Journey
At just 11 years old, Osment captured the hearts of audiences worldwide with his portrayal of Cole Sear in The Sixth Sense, alongside Bruce Willis. He also starred in movies like Pay It Forward, A.I. Artificial Intelligence, and Edges of the Lord. Despite his early success, Osment faced public scrutiny when he was involved in a 2006 DUI incident, resulting in probation and a fine.

The actor spoke candidly about his decision to leave Hollywood in the mid-2000s due to the intense paparazzi culture. “The tabloid culture at the time was very predatory,” he shared in a past interview with E! News. After studying theatre in New York, Osment shifted his focus to voiceover work, including roles in Kingdom Hearts and Immortal Grand Prix.

Recent Struggles and Career Revival
After more than a decade away from Hollywood, Osment returned to the industry with roles in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile and The Kominsky Method. He noted the stark difference in the entertainment industry today, especially with the rise of social media. “I’m impressed by younger actors who navigate platforms like TikTok and Instagram,” he said.

Despite his career resurgence, Osment’s personal life has been filled with challenges. In January 2025, he tragically lost his home in the Los Angeles fires, which he described on the Mentor Buffet podcast. He revealed the hardships of the past year, including a difficult relationship and the delays caused by the SAG/WGA strike.

“I lost my home in the Eaton Fire, which had been my refuge during the pandemic,” he shared. The devastating fires have added to his already turbulent year. Osment’s future remains uncertain, but his fans continue to support him as he navigates this difficult time.
