SOUTH FULTON, Ga. – A former City of South Fulton employee has been fired and arrested following a corruption investigation that officials say cost the city approximately $30,000.
At a news conference, Police Chief Keith Meadows identified the employee as Hal Moon, who served as a civil engineer for the city for two and a half years. Moon is now facing charges of bribery, theft by deception, and forgery.
Chief Meadows stated that Moon’s actions undermined the integrity of the city’s planning and zoning department, and the financial damage could increase as the investigation continues.
“Any level of corruption undermines the integrity of the organization,” Meadows said.
City Manager Sharon D. Subadan confirmed Moon’s termination, emphasizing the city’s commitment to ethical governance. “Unethical behavior has no place in the City of South Fulton. The employee has been terminated, effective immediately,” she said.
According to Channel 2’s Michael Doudna, the alleged scheme involved illegally approving permits—such as those for tree removal—without following proper protocols, allowing Moon to profit through bribes.
The City of South Fulton says it remains committed to upholding accountability and rooting out unethical conduct.
