Guwahati police busted a prostitution racket operating out of a guest house in Joyanagar, arresting four individuals and rescuing three women victims, officials said on Tuesday.

DCP (East) Mrinal Deka informed the media that the Dispur police station registered a case after receiving complaints about the racket. The accused arrested include guest house owner Bapti Hazarika and three others — Jonali Chowkham, Ritumoni Gohain Rabha, and Riya Das. The operation had been running for approximately eight months.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the services were primarily provided either at their guest house or various hotels. The rescued women, aged between 20 and 28, are from different parts of the city. Police are currently analyzing guest house registers and CCTV footage to uncover further details.

Additionally, a viral audio clip purportedly capturing a negotiation related to the racket is being investigated to identify those involved. Authorities emphasized that the case is sensitive and in its early stages, with more information expected as the probe continues.
