In a series of successful operations, Guwahati police arrested several drug peddlers and thieves across different areas of the city. A key arrest was made by the Chandmari Police, who apprehended Binit Bardhan, a fourth-grade employee in the Department of Water Resources, for his involvement in stealing road slabs. The arrest followed CCTV footage, which led to the identification of Bardhan. After his confession, two more individuals, Almas Ali and Saddam Hussain, were arrested in connection with the crime.
Meanwhile, the Jalukbari Police successfully detained drug peddler Suraj Das at Pandu Station Colony, where they seized 20 grams of heroin packed into 15 vials from his possession.
In a separate raid, the Panbazar Police discovered a hideout near Railway Gate No. 2, where they arrested a teenager from Bilasipara. Seven vials containing 9.16 grams of heroin were seized from the suspect.
The Basistha Police apprehended a thief named Gaurav Prasad, who hailed from Beharbari, in the Patarkuchi area. In another successful operation, Sonapur Police, with help from Meghalaya authorities, recovered a stolen Bajaj Pulsar bike (AS01FA6705) from Shillong, which had been altered with a fake number plate (ML04C6971).
Lastly, two thieves, Ibrahim Ali from Goalpara and Mrinal Haque from Gauripur, were apprehended in Jalukbari with the assistance of the local community. Several stolen items were recovered from their possession.
