In a crackdown on fraud, Guwahati police have arrested two individuals, Nabajit Barman and Semim Ahmed, for allegedly cheating people under the guise of securing government jobs. The fraudsters, who are believed to be part of a larger group, duped their victims by promising them government positions in exchange for significant sums of money.
The case came to light after a complaint was lodged on February 8 by Nipul Kalita, leading to the registration of an FIR and subsequent investigation. During the probe, several details about the scam emerged, and the accused were apprehended.
Shankar Jyoti Nath, Officer-in-Charge of Panbazar Police Station, confirmed the arrests and stated that the investigation is still ongoing. The authorities are working to uncover any additional individuals or groups involved in this illegal activity.
This case highlights the ongoing issue of fraudulent schemes related to government jobs, which continue to deceive innocent people seeking employment.
