Gustavo Cantu Convicted in 2022 Murder of Randall Denny

GREEN BAY (WLUK) – Gustavo Cantu was convicted in connection with the 2022 murder of Randall Denny on the city’s west side. The verdict was delivered on Tuesday, with Cantu being found guilty of felony murder-armed robbery. The charges stemmed from a fatal shooting that occurred on April 30, 2022, at the intersection of Perkins and Western Avenues.

Prosecutors suggested that the murder was linked to a drug deal gone wrong, with Denny being involved in a theft of money, drugs, and weapons. While Cantu was initially charged with first-degree intentional homicide, the jury convicted him on the lesser charge of being party to the crime felony murder-armed robbery.

Cantu, 42, faces sentencing on April 22, 2025. His brother, Alejandro Cantu, was previously convicted of felony murder-battery in relation to the same incident. Another suspect, Jacob Ventura, who provided a statement implicating the Cantus, has had his case separated from theirs. Ventura is scheduled to return to court on March 10, 2025.
