Gurasis Singh Stabbed to Death in Canada; Father Suspects Murder While Sleeping
Gurasis Singh, a 22-year-old postgraduate student from Ludhiana, Punjab, was stabbed to death on December 1, 2024, at his rental house in Sarnia, Ontario. Singh, who had been studying business at Lambton College, was allegedly attacked by his housemate, Crossley Hunter, 36, after a dispute in the kitchen. Hunter has been charged with second-degree murder.
Singh’s father, Charanjeet Singh, believes his son was killed while he was sleeping, citing the fact that his son had been in a cheerful mood during a phone conversation just hours before his death. Charanjeet also raised suspicions that Hunter may have been under the influence of drugs during the attack.
The family, devastated by the loss, is seeking help from the Indian government to bring their son’s body back to Punjab for final rites. Lambton College has expressed support for the family and is assisting with funeral arrangements and the repatriation of Singh’s body. An online fundraiser has also been set up by local students and community members to help with expenses.
