A man was arrested on Thursday for attempting to smuggle 255 grams of brown sugar in an SUV during a routine check in the Pardeshipura area, ahead of the Holi festival.

The operation was led by Pardeshipura TI RD Kanwa, who received a tip-off about a man carrying brown sugar in a black SUV parked near Rajkumar Mandi. Acting on the information, the police team stopped the vehicle and questioned the driver, who identified himself as Gulshan Nargave, a resident of Devguradia. He was immediately detained for questioning, and the authorities seized the SUV and his mobile phone.

Gulshan Nargave, originally from Barwani, revealed that he had been selling brown sugar for the past six months. Previously employed as a driver, he now operates a drug trafficking network. Nargave has eight criminal cases registered against him at various police stations, including Vijay Nagar, Khajrana, Kanadia, Rajendra Nagar, and Bhanwarkua, under the Excise Act, NDPS Act, and theft.

The police further uncovered that Nargave is linked to a drug gang consisting of 60 to 70 peddlers in Indore. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are interrogating him for further details.
