Doctors linked to forged documents and identity theft charges

by Amelia Crawford

Two doctors from the Greater Toronto Area, Dr. Andrew Kiellerman and Dr. Leonard Direnfeld, have been arrested and charged in connection with a forgery and identity theft investigation tied to a prior suspect.

York Regional Police confirmed that Dr. Kiellerman was charged on June 16, 2025, while Dr. Direnfeld was taken into custody on June 22, 2025. Both face multiple charges including assault causing bodily harm, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, unauthorized document drawing, forgery, identity theft, personation with intent to gain advantage, and using forged documents.

The investigation links the two doctors directly to Georges Tsakiris, 65, from Aurora, Ontario, who was arrested in February on similar allegations. Authorities allege that on December 16, 2024, a victim suffered serious health complications after receiving treatment at a medical spa near Hollandview Trail and McMaster Avenue in Aurora. The medications prescribed were reportedly inappropriate for the victim’s health conditions.

Tsakiris was charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm, assault causing bodily harm, and multiple counts of forgery. The ongoing investigation continues to uncover details related to the fraudulent activities.
