The Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested three suspects involved in a series of train robberies and mobile thefts after they were caught with stolen mobile phones worth approximately Rs2,50,000. The arrest took place near Harrisganj Bridge, early Monday morning, following a surveillance operation.

The suspects, identified as Pravesh alias Dheeraj alias Beena Katheria (from Kachchi Basti Govindnagar), Rajbahadur alias Chotu Gautam (from Govindnagar), and Akbar Ali (from Unnao), had been involved in over twelve criminal cases related to theft, robbery, and NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act) violations.

According to GRP in-charge Omnarayan Singh, the trio would board trains, target passengers, and steal wallets, mobile phones, and other valuables. They would then disembark at outer stations, making it difficult for authorities to track them. The suspects were supported by aides who helped them monitor police movements and warned them of any approaching law enforcement.

The police seized five stolen mobile phones from the suspects, which were part of their loot from recent train robberies. The GRP has registered robbery and theft cases against the suspects and is continuing the investigation to uncover further details.
