SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. (WBMA) – A Birmingham man has been arrested following an investigation into allegations of inappropriate contact with minors, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday.
Charges and Investigation
Griffin Nelson Race, 23, faces multiple charges, including:
Electronic Solicitation of a Child
Three counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Child
Distributing Pornography to Minors
Traveling to Meet a Child for an Unlawful Sexual Act
The investigation began on January 4, 2025, when the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office received a report regarding Race’s alleged interactions with a minor.
Further Reports and Arrest
As part of the investigation, forensic interviews were conducted at Owen’s House, Shelby County’s Child Advocacy Center. During this process, additional reports involving Race and other minors were submitted to the Shelby County Department of Human Resources.
Race was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Shelby County Jail with a bond set at $24,000.
