ST. LOUIS, Mich. (WJRT) – Gregory Jones, 43, of Saginaw, already serving a lengthy sentence for murder, is now facing new charges related to drug smuggling at the St. Louis Correctional Facility.
Court documents reveal that Jones, who is currently serving a 33 to 50-year sentence for second-degree murder, has been charged with conspiracy and two other drug-related offenses. His earliest release date, set for 2041, could be delayed if he is convicted on the new charges.
Jones is accused of working with 61-year-old Kernef Jackson, a Michigan Department of Corrections officer from Saginaw, to smuggle drugs into the facility for distribution. Jackson was arrested on drug charges in August and was suspended without pay by the Michigan Department of Corrections upon his arrest.
Additionally, one other individual has been charged in the case, though they have yet to be arraigned.
