he Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested Govind Gupta, a 40-year-old man, for his alleged involvement in a hit-and-run accident in Central Delhi’s Paharganj area. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, September 14, when an SUV allegedly driven by Gupta struck two footpath dwellers, leaving them grievously injured.
According to the police, the control room at the Paharganj police station received a call about the accident around 2:20 a.m. A police team rushed to the scene in front of the railway reservation centre on Chelmsford Road, where they found blood stains but no eyewitnesses.
Subsequent inquiry revealed that the injured individuals had already been transported to a hospital by bystanders. Based on technical surveillance and investigation, police identified and arrested Govind Gupta as the driver of the SUV.
The case is being treated as a vehicular offense and hit-and-run, and further investigation is underway.
