HOWARD BEACH, QUEENS — Two grandsons of the late Gambino crime boss John Gotti were arrested this week after allegedly beating a mob associate accused of robbing one of them.
The incident stems from a June 1 robbery at the home of John Gotti, 31, in Howard Beach. According to police, Gino Gabrielli, also 31 and a reputed Gambino associate, broke into Gotti’s residence on 157th Avenue and stole $3,500 in cash, a luxury watch, earrings, a wallet, and a jewelry box.
Gabrielli was arrested the next day by officers from the 106th Precinct and charged with second-degree burglary and criminal possession of stolen property. He was released on his own recognizance after arraignment in Queens Criminal Court.
The alleged retaliation came soon after. On June 3, Frankie Gotti, 27, reportedly spotted Gabrielli near their mother’s home on 84th Street and called his brother. The two then confronted Gabrielli and allegedly punched him repeatedly in the face and kicked him while he was on the ground.
Officers arrived following a 911 call and witnessed the assault. The Gotti brothers were taken into custody and charged with attempted assault and harassment. They were released without bail and are scheduled to appear in court on August 7.
Gabrielli, no stranger to law enforcement, made headlines in 2015 when he accidentally set himself on fire while torching a Mercedes-Benz in an extortion-related arson. Surveillance footage captured the incident, and he later pleaded guilty to arson charges in 2016.
Authorities continue to investigate the broader implications of the latest events involving these individuals with alleged ties to organized crime.
