The Pakke Kesang District Police have successfully apprehended Gona Kanta Hazarika and Umesh Hazarika, two individuals accused of orchestrating a large-scale fraud that targeted several individuals and businesses associated with the Postal Department under the Seijosa Division.

The arrests were made by a dedicated Seijosa police team, led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Sang Thinley, SI Duyu Talley, and Constable M. Ete, with supervision from DySP Sashi Dore. The operation followed multiple attempts and was part of a thorough investigation, combining technical and human intelligence. Pakke Kesang SP Tasi Darang confirmed that the arrests came after weeks of careful inquiry and evidence collection.

The two suspects were charged under Sections 316(4)/318(4)/115(2)/351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Their fraudulent scheme involved deceiving victims with false promises of high returns on investments in the National Savings Scheme. Through this deceitful operation, the accused reportedly scammed numerous innocent people out of their money.

The operation, which involved coordinated efforts from Seijosa and Sootea police teams, led to Umesh Hazarika’s arrest earlier this morning, effectively closing the long-pending case registered at Seijosa Police Station. Authorities continue to work on strengthening the case with the gathered evidence.
