In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Golaghat Police executed an anti-drug operation under Dergaon Police Station, based on a reliable tip-off. The raid led to the seizure of 74.79 grams of heroin hidden in a haystack, along with Rs. 65,330 in cash, believed to be proceeds from illegal drug dealings.
A drug peddler was apprehended during the operation, with law enforcement also seizing a vehicle and multiple mobile phones from the accused. Legal proceedings are now underway, with authorities continuing their efforts to identify the supply chain and other individuals involved in the drug trafficking network.
Earlier this week, a separate operation in Assam’s Bongaigaon led by SI (UB) Sagar Sah resulted in the interception of an e-rickshaw. In this case, officers found seven vials containing a substance suspected to be heroin, weighing 9.33 grams. The driver, Rakesh Hussain from Kali Mandir, Bongaigaon, was arrested, and legal action was taken against him.
In another operation, the Assam Police Special Task Force (STF), led by Additional Superintendent of Police Kalyan Kumar Pathak, intercepted a truck in North Guwahati’s Amingaon. The vehicle, carrying 600 grams of heroin valued at Rs 4 crore, was smuggled from Mizoram and hidden in a secret compartment.
