In one of the largest drug seizures reported in Goa, the police arrested two individuals, including a Zimbabwean national, after recovering 4.3kg of cocaine worth more than Rs 43 crore in Chicolna.
The arrests followed the interrogation of Reshma Wadekar, a key suspect, who revealed that funds and flight tickets for her foreign travels had been arranged by Chirag Rameshbhai Dudhat, a 32-year-old man from Gujarat. A police team was dispatched to Gujarat, where they successfully apprehended Dudhat.
Further investigation revealed that Dudhat had transferred funds to Wadekar on instructions from M Don, a foreign national. Upon tracing the financial transactions, it was confirmed that Dudhat had received the money from Tariro Brightmore Mangwana, a Zimbabwean national based in Vadodara, Gujarat.
Mangwana was subsequently arrested and implicated in the case. Both Dudhat and Mangwana were remanded in judicial custody after their arrest.
This drug bust is one of the largest in Goa’s history, highlighting a significant effort to disrupt international drug trafficking networks. The police suspect the cocaine was brought into Goa from Thailand for local distribution.
