Panaji: Goa Police have registered two separate cases under the Goa Public Gambling Act against individuals allegedly involved in illegal gambling in Tiswadi taluka on February 9, 2026.
In the first case, Ramraj Saroj (38), a resident of Janki Building near EDC House, Panaji, originally from Bijhauli, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, was caught near City Bakery at Mira Flores Building, St Inez, Panaji. Saroj was allegedly accepting money bets on numerical digital numbers in an open public space. Police seized cash totaling Rs2,450 and other gambling-related materials. Saroj was arrested at 9:01 PM and released on the same day at 9:27 PM. The case is under investigation by Head Constable Samir Naik of Panaji Police Station.
In a separate incident, Mohmad Hunachyal (39) was apprehended near Malik petrol pump at Corlim around 9 PM, allegedly taking money and issuing slips linked to gambling activities. Police recovered Rs1,200 in cash from his possession. The investigation in this case is ongoing under ASI Mohammad Rafik Jambotkar.
Police have reiterated that action will continue against individuals involved in illegal gambling in public places.
