On Sunday, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Goa Police busted a major interstate synthetic drug racket and arrested Parvej Ali Khan (30) from Maharashtra for allegedly possessing Ecstasy powder and contraband pills worth Rs 25 lakh. The police revealed that the consignment was smuggled into Goa with the intent to distribute it within party circles.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (ANC) Nerlon Albuquerque stated that Parvej Ali Khan is suspected to be a key figure in an interstate synthetic drug racket, primarily supplying party drugs to Goa and Mumbai. The ANC believes Khan arrived in Goa during the long weekend to distribute the drugs among partygoers.
The police had received a tip-off regarding the supply of Ecstasy pills in Goa and quickly connected it to a larger Mumbai-Goa drug supply network. The investigation revealed that Khan was the main supplier of Ecstasy pills to Goa, which were then distributed by small-time peddlers in the party scene.
Acting on intelligence, the ANC zeroed in on Khan, who was transporting a bulk quantity of drugs to Goa. The police intercepted the accused at Torse, Patradevi, near the Goa-Maharashtra border, recovering Ecstasy powder worth Rs 20 lakh and 43 high-potency pills valued at Rs 4.3 lakh.
Additionally, the ANC also seized the two-wheeler used by Khan to transport the drugs from Kudal (Maharashtra) to Goa.
