TROY, Pa. (WETM) — A Gillett man is facing a stack of felony charges after he allegedly stole a truck from a local ambulance service and led law enforcement on a multi-state vehicle pursuit earlier this year.
Brandon Joseph McClain, 33, was arrested on April 23, 2025, on an unrelated warrant but soon confessed to being behind the theft of a 1993 white Chevy pickup from the Western Alliance Ambulance service in Troy, PA back in January.
The stolen truck, which had a .22 caliber rifle with a scope in the back seat, was tracked by police over the following months. Witnesses told troopers that McClain had been seen spray-painting the truck black and hiding it under a tarp outside Pennsylvania.
In April, McClain was spotted driving a gray SUV and led Pennsylvania State Police on a chase that ended just across the New York state line, where the SUV was later found abandoned. A rifle scope recovered from the vehicle matched the one reported stolen.
The Chevy truck, now black, was discovered on April 18, abandoned in South Creek Township, Bradford County, after running out of gas.
When finally taken into custody and questioned, McClain admitted to stealing both the truck and the rifle, and to being the driver during the April 11 pursuit.
He is currently facing the following charges:
Felony theft (two counts)
Receiving stolen property (two counts)
Criminal mischief
Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle
McClain remains in custody pending further court proceedings.
