PATTAYA, Thailand — A 42-year-old German national, identified only as Maik, was arrested on June 16, 2025, in Central Pattaya for allegedly using his beer bar and sports club as a front for cocaine distribution and for illegal possession of firearms.
The arrest followed weeks of surveillance by Pattaya Police and narcotics officers, who organized an undercover operation to purchase 2 grams of cocaine for 5,000 baht (around $154). The deal was arranged to take place at the Xcite shopping center parking lot.
Maik, disguised as a tourist, was seated inside a popular fried chicken restaurant when he met with the undercover agents. After completing the transaction, he attempted to flee the scene on a motorcycle, heading toward a beer bar on Soi Buakhao. However, police gave chase and swiftly apprehended him, finding 2.61 grams of cocaine and part of the marked money on him.
A subsequent search of Maik’s residence in Central Pattaya led to the discovery of an additional 424 grams of cocaine, a .380 caliber pistol, and ammunition. The total value of the seized drugs and evidence is estimated at nearly 500,000 baht (about $15,400 USD).
Authorities have charged Maik with drug trafficking and illegal firearm possession, and further investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of his operations.
