A 39-year-old woman has been sentenced to two years and ten months in prison after pleading guilty to burglary and theft of a motor vehicle in Stoke-on-Trent.
Geraldine Grocott, of no fixed address, broke into a home near Camp Road on July 13, stealing cash, perfume, and the keys to a Toyota parked outside. Using the keys, she then fled the scene in the vehicle, worth approximately £12,000.
The homeowner only realized the burglary had taken place the next morning upon noticing the missing car.
Police investigations linked Grocott to the crime through forensic evidence found at the scene. She was arrested and later appeared at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, where she admitted the charges.
A Staffordshire Police spokesperson stated, “Grocott has been jailed for breaking into a home and stealing a car, cash, and perfume. Our forensic teams were instrumental in securing evidence that led to her arrest and conviction.”
