GREENWICH, Conn. (WFSB) – A New York man was arrested in central Greenwich after allegedly stealing a pair of luxury sunglasses and being found with a cache of suspicious items in his vehicle.
On June 26, an employee at a local store reported that a man and woman had entered the shop, concealed a pair of sunglasses worth $548, and left without paying.
Police quickly located 33-year-old Gentian Gjana, of Yonkers, NY, nearby and detained him. Although Gjana denied the theft, officers reviewed surveillance footage that confirmed he had stolen the sunglasses.
During a search of Gjana’s vehicle, officers uncovered alarming items, including:
Two balaclava masks
A large, illegal-size canister of pepper spray
A tactical vest and fake DEA badges
A knife over 4 inches in length
Ten rounds of .44 Magnum ammunition
Gjana was arrested and hit with a slew of charges, including:
3 counts of forgery
2 counts of possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle
Conspiracy to commit larceny
Possession of a shoplifting device
10 counts of criminal possession of ammunition
He is currently being held on a $250,000 bond.
