MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – A Memphis man is facing multiple charges after allegedly driving recklessly in a stolen vehicle and fleeing police.
According to the Memphis Police Department, officers responded to a complaint of reckless driving near Union Avenue and Fourth Street on June 1. Upon arrival, they observed Gavin Robinson revving his engine and doing donuts, endangering nearby vehicles and pedestrians.
As officers attempted to intervene, Robinson allegedly exited the vehicle with a large bag and fled on foot. A VIN check on the vehicle confirmed it had been reported stolen.
After a short foot chase, officers arrested Robinson. A witness informed authorities that the suspect had ditched a black backpack in a nearby dumpster. Upon recovery, officers discovered cocaine, cash, a black scale, and marijuana in the bag and Robinson’s pockets.
Robinson is now facing multiple charges, including:
Reckless driving
Evading arrest
Drug possession with intent
Weapon possession
Theft of property
The Memphis Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
