A tragic road accident in Lucknow left a six-year-old boy dead and four others injured when a speeding car lost control on Thursday evening. The vehicle, driven by 21-year-old Gaurav Singh, a Class 12 student returning from a farewell party, first hit a parked bike before running over pedestrians nearby.
The incident occurred around 6:00 pm, and CCTV footage shows the car hitting a man seated on the parked bike, causing the vehicle to veer uncontrollably towards the roadside. Pedestrians Armaan, Sadhana Patel, Meena Devi, and six-year-old Dikshant were struck, along with an e-rickshaw and an auto rickshaw, injuring the drivers.
Dikshant, a Class 2 student at Kendriya Vidyalaya, succumbed to his injuries at the Community Health Centre.
After the accident, Gaurav Singh and his friend fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle. Police later seized the car and arrested Gaurav Singh. Rajnish Verma, Lucknow ACP, confirmed that families of the injured have been informed, and CCTV footage is being reviewed. An FIR will be registered based on the complaints filed.
