LEVITTOWN, PA – Gary Margerum, a 67-year-old former police officer in Tullytown and former president of the Falls Township Fire Company, has been charged with multiple child pornography offenses following a cyber investigation.
Margerum was arrested on April 4, 2025, after a tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) linked a Kik messaging app user to the distribution of child sexual abuse material in December 2024. Investigators traced the account to Margerum and executed a search warrant at his Levittown residence.
According to the criminal complaint, Margerum admitted to accessing, receiving, and distributing explicit material involving minors. Detectives recovered at least one image from his iPhone, dated January 2023. Officials say additional digital devices are still under review for further evidence.
Margerum is being held at the Bucks County Correctional Facility after failing to post bail. His preliminary court hearing is scheduled for April 16, 2025.
Margerum has a criminal history dating back decades. In 1988, he was convicted of corruption of minors, official oppression, and indecent exposure for an incident involving a 15-year-old girl, receiving probation and community service. He resigned from the Falls Township Fire Company in 2016 when the case resurfaced. In 2018, he was also charged with theft while serving in the same organization.
Online court documents currently list no defense attorney for Margerum in the latest case.
