Macon, Georgia – Gary Hollingshed, 31, of Macon, was sentenced to more than nine years in federal prison for his role in distributing fentanyl and methamphetamine. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Georgia announced the sentencing, which follows a detailed investigation into Hollingshed’s drug trafficking activities.
In early 2022, local and federal law enforcement agencies began investigating Hollingshed for his distribution of fentanyl, heroin, and methamphetamine in the Macon area. The investigation utilized a confidential source and surveillance, leading to several controlled purchases. On February 10, 2022, agents successfully bought approximately 83.9 grams of methamphetamine from Hollingshed in a Macon hotel parking lot.
A second controlled purchase occurred six days later, when Hollingshed offered both heroin and fentanyl to an undercover agent. The agent requested heroin, but the substance was later determined to be fentanyl, weighing 28.56 grams. Additionally, Hollingshed sold the agent 140.1 grams of methamphetamine.
Hollingshed’s arrest took place on March 9, 2022, following a traffic stop in Monroe County. Law enforcement officers found nearly one kilogram of methamphetamine and 56.3 grams of fentanyl in his vehicle during the stop. Further investigation led agents to Hollingshed’s supplier in Woodstock, Georgia, where a search warrant resulted in the seizure of over half a kilogram of methamphetamine, firearms, and other drugs, including cocaine and crack cocaine.
Hollingshed’s sentence serves as a reminder of the significant penalties associated with trafficking dangerous substances like fentanyl and methamphetamine. His conviction also underscores the coordinated efforts of local and federal agencies to dismantle drug networks.
