A Lexington County man, 38-year-old Gary Edward Ware Jr., was arrested on Saturday on multiple charges including trafficking fentanyl, distributing methamphetamine, and illegal possession of a weapon.

Deputies apprehended Ware at his residence on Hayride Road in Gilbert after receiving recent intelligence about ongoing drug activity at the home. This led law enforcement to obtain a search warrant, which they executed on the same day.

During the search, deputies discovered fentanyl, methamphetamine, plastic bags used for packaging drugs, a digital scale, and other drug-related items. Additionally, authorities found 9 mm ammunition at the property.

Sheriff Jay Koon explained that due to Ware’s prior criminal record, he is prohibited from possessing ammunition, which resulted in an additional weapon possession charge.

Gary Edward Ware Jr. is currently being held at the Lexington County Detention Center pending further legal proceedings.
