In a significant breakthrough, Warasiguda Police arrested a 45-year-old woman for burglarizing her friend’s locked house and stealing valuables worth nearly Rs8 lakh.
The accused, Gaddameeda Vijaya, a resident of Macha Bollaram and a real estate agent by profession, allegedly entered her friend’s house while the family was away and made off with gold, silver, and cash. According to police officials, the burglary came to light when the victim returned home and discovered the theft.
Based on the complaint, police began investigating and reviewed CCTV footage from nearby areas. With the help of surveillance footage and a known offenders database, police identified Vijaya as the prime suspect.
“She was tracked using previous crime records and technical analysis,” said A. Balaswamy, DCP (East). The accused was subsequently arrested and the stolen items recovered.
Police suspect this may not be her first offense and are probing her involvement in other similar cases.
