Two St. Louis women have been charged after allegedly stealing merchandise from a Walmart in Arnold and threatening store employees with a gun, according to the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Gabrielle Cherelle Nunley, 30, and Michele Jennell Nunley, 29, face charges of first-degree robbery, a Class A felony punishable by up to life in prison, and armed criminal action, which carries a possible three to 15-year sentence, court records show.
Gabrielle was arrested on Nov. 13 and is being held at the Jefferson County Jail on a $30,000 bond. A warrant for Michele’s arrest was issued on Oct. 10, but she had not been taken into custody as of Monday.
The charges stem from an incident on April 15, when Arnold Police responded to Walmart at 2201 Michigan Ave. after the two women allegedly stole $124.22 in cosmetics and food items. When employees followed them outside, Gabrielle allegedly threatened to “beat them up.”
As one employee called 911, Gabrielle allegedly approached, pulled a 9mm Glock G26 from a crossbody bag, and threatened to kill them. A third person intervened to keep her from getting closer, according to the probable-cause statement.
Police later arrested the women and recovered the bag containing Gabrielle’s driver’s license and the firearm. Surveillance footage reportedly showed her wearing the same bag inside the store. Michele allegedly resisted arrest and had to be forced to the ground before being detained.
