WILLIS, Texas — Gabriel Cortinas, 25, has been arrested on charges of sexual assault of a child and possession of child pornography following an investigation involving a missing 15-year-old girl.
Montgomery County Pct. 4 Constable’s Office received information that the teenager, who had run away from home, might be a victim of a cyber-related crime. Multiple law enforcement agencies collaborated to locate and safely recover the teen in east Montgomery County.
During the recovery, investigators found evidence of exploitation that led them to a residence in Willis. A search warrant was executed at the home, where further evidence was seized.
“These investigations are extremely difficult but critically important,” said Constable Rowdy Hayden. “The recovery of this young victim and the arrest of a dangerous offender is the result of multiple agencies working together to protect our children. We will continue to pursue those who seek to harm them, no matter where they try to hide.”
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities say additional charges may be filed.
