by Sophia Bennett

A Greenville man, Freedom Morris, 24, was arrested Thursday after police searched his apartment and reportedly found drugs and a firearm.

According to the Greenville Police Department, officers seized a small amount of cocaine and approximately half an ounce of marijuana at Morris’s apartment at Sterling Pointe. Authorities also located a firearm, which Morris is prohibited from possessing due to a 2022 conviction for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

Police previously reported that in 2021, Morris was involved in a shooting incident while working at a Wendy’s restaurant. During an argument with a coworker, he allegedly attempted to fire a gun. Although the intended target was not injured, a stray bullet struck a woman sitting in a drive-through lane.

Morris now faces charges of possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, felony maintaining a vehicle, dwelling, or place for controlled substances, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
