PRICEVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – A Montgomery man is facing several charges after Priceville Police found drugs and marijuana in his vehicle while two young children were present.
Frederick Leon McCoy Jr., 25, was arrested and charged with chemical endangerment of a child, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana, illegal possession of prescription drugs, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
The arrest occurred on Tuesday around 3:40 p.m. when Priceville Police stopped McCoy’s vehicle for minor traffic violations on Interstate 65 near mile marker 335. During the stop, officers conducted a field narcotics investigation and brought in a K-9 unit.
After the investigation, police discovered a quantity of a controlled substance in pill form, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. Officers also found two young children in the car, leading to the chemical endangerment of a child charge.
The children were later released to another parent after the Department of Human Resources (DHR) was notified about the arrest.
McCoy was taken to the Morgan County Jail, where a judge set his bond at $80,900. Authorities later revealed that McCoy was out on bond for previous drug-related charges at the time of this arrest.
