ENFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — A Meriden woman has been arrested in connection with a December 2023 crash that claimed the life of her 11-month-old son, according to an arrest warrant issued by Connecticut State Police.

Fransheska Stuart, 32, turned herself in after learning of an active arrest warrant. The crash resulted in life-threatening injuries to her son, who was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Stuart also sustained injuries and was hospitalized after the incident.

Following a months-long investigation, state police arrested Stuart and charged her with the following:

Second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle

Risk of injury to a minor

Operating under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs (OUI)

First-degree reckless endangerment

Reckless driving

Misconduct with a motor vehicle

Violation of rear-facing child seat requirements

Failure to maintain lane

Police documents also indicate that improper use of a rear-facing car seat was a factor in the crash.

Stuart was unable to post her $375,000 bond and has since been transferred to the Department of Corrections.
