Meriden Woman Arrested in Crash That Killed 11-Month-Old Son
ENFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — A Meriden woman has been arrested in connection with a December 2023 crash that claimed the life of her 11-month-old son, according to an arrest warrant issued by Connecticut State Police.
Fransheska Stuart, 32, turned herself in after learning of an active arrest warrant. The crash resulted in life-threatening injuries to her son, who was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Stuart also sustained injuries and was hospitalized after the incident.
Following a months-long investigation, state police arrested Stuart and charged her with the following:
Second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle
Risk of injury to a minor
Operating under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs (OUI)
First-degree reckless endangerment
Reckless driving
Misconduct with a motor vehicle
Violation of rear-facing child seat requirements
Failure to maintain lane
Police documents also indicate that improper use of a rear-facing car seat was a factor in the crash.
Stuart was unable to post her $375,000 bond and has since been transferred to the Department of Corrections.
