WASHINGTON — Metropolitan Police have arrested Frank Johnson Jr., 43, of Camp Springs, Maryland, in connection with a deadly 2023 shooting outside a nightclub in Northeast D.C.

Johnson was taken into custody Feb. 5 by members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force and transported to the MPD Homicide Branch. He faces a first-degree murder while armed charge under a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant.

The arrest follows the earlier apprehension of Cotey Wynn, 44, of Northeast D.C., who was taken into custody on March 11, 2025, and charged with the same offense.

The shooting occurred just before midnight on Sept. 23, 2023, at the Cru nightclub on the 1300 block of H Street, NE. First District officers responding to reports of gunfire found three men and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds.

All four victims were transported to nearby hospitals. Blake Bozeman, 31, of Southeast D.C., was pronounced dead, while the other three victims were treated for injuries and expected to survive.

Prosecutors confirmed that Wynn had been employed at the time as a violence interrupter with the District’s Cure the Streets program, which mediates conflicts in high-risk communities. The Office of the Attorney General said it had no prior knowledge of Wynn’s connection to the shooting. Wynn had previously been profiled by the OAG in 2020 for his anti-violence work, having survived multiple gunshot wounds and served prison time before joining the program.

Bozeman, a former Morgan State University basketball standout, was remembered by friends and teammates as a mentor and peacemaker. He was active in community service, volunteering with the Special Olympics and organizing events for children with special needs.
