In a major narcotics crackdown, four police personnel from the Special Task Force (STF), Central Range, have been arrested for alleged involvement in an LSD smuggling network. The accused, posted in Kullu district, include head constables Rajesh, Sameer, Nitesh, and constable Ashok Kumar. They were suspended on March 16, 2026.
Abhishek, Additional Superintendent of Police, stated that narcotic smuggling networks are being dismantled. The case originates from an FIR registered on March 10 under Sections 22 and 29 of the NDPS Act at New Shimla police station.
Acting on intelligence, a special cell team intercepted Sandeep Sharma from Punjab and Priya Sharma from Himachal Pradesh near BCS on March 10, recovering 562 strips (11.5 grams) of LSD. Sandeep Sharma disclosed that he procured the LSD from Neville Harrison, who was later arrested from Gurugram on March 13.
Investigators revealed that Harrison had brought 1,450 LSD strips and 30 grams of MDMA to Bhuntar, Kullu, on March 8. The STF personnel intercepted him but allegedly did not register a case, retaining a portion of the contraband. Of the seized LSD, 616 strips were reportedly handed over to Sandeep Sharma, while the remaining quantity was allegedly kept by the accused policemen.
All four STF personnel are to be produced before a competent court, and the investigation is ongoing, with further arrests not ruled out.
