In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, police in Jharkhand’s Palamu district arrested four members of a family, including three women, for possessing 8.6 kilograms of ganja.

The arrests were made on Monday at a house located in Madhushala Colony, under the jurisdiction of the Hussainabad police station, following a vital tip-off received by law enforcement agencies.

The accused have been identified as Anita Devi (42), Durga Devi (45), Sabita Devi (46), and Uday Prasad (44). Police seized the ganja from their residence during the operation.

According to SP Reeshma Ramesan, the seized contraband is estimated to be worth around Rs 6 lakh in the illegal market. The arrests underscore continued efforts by Palamu police to curb the drug trade in the region.

Further investigation is underway to determine the source of the narcotics and identify possible links to a larger network.
