Samrala, Punjab – The Samrala police have arrested four individuals and booked eight others for allegedly cheating two men by luring them into investing in a fraudulent organic farming-related company.
The arrested accused are:
Avtar Singh (Khirnia village, Samrala)
Harpreet Singh and Bikramjit Singh (Gehlewal village, Samrala)
Amit Khullar (Faridkot Road, Ferozepur)
Other accused include Parvinder Singh (Baina Buland, Amloh), Jaspreet Singh (Jalanpur, Samrala), Satwinder Singh (Amloh), and Jatinder Singh (Mandi Gobindgarh).
Police recovered four laptops and two computer screens from the accused during the investigation.
The case was registered after a complaint by Joginder Kumar, a resident of Baba Nand Singh Nagar, Phullanwal, Ludhiana, filed on September 17. Joginder alleged that he and his brother-in-law, Manoj Kumar, were convinced to invest in a company called Generation of Farming, with promises of high returns.
On March 26, the victims transferred Rs23.75 lakh into one account and Rs2 lakh into another. However, they only received Rs3 lakh in returns, with the rest of the amount unrecovered.
Joginder accused the group of conspiracy and cheating, prompting police to register an FIR under sections relating to cheating, criminal breach of trust, forgery, and conspiracy.
Police sources revealed that several other victims have come forward with similar complaints, suggesting the total amount involved may run into crores of rupees.
