LIVINGSTON, Texas – Following a thorough narcotics investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation with the Texas DPS Criminal Investigations Division, four individuals were arrested for their involvement in illegal drug distribution activities within Livingston and surrounding areas.
Arrests and Charges
The investigation, which began in early May, led to the arrest of Charlie Joe King III on May 9 for allegedly distributing narcotics throughout Polk County.
As the investigation progressed, four additional arrests were made:
Michael Eugene Bunting III was arrested for manufacturing and delivering cocaine and methamphetamine.
Joe Thomas Harrison faced charges for manufacturing and delivering cocaine, along with abandoning or endangering a child. Harrison also has an additional warrant pending for further narcotics charges.
Gladis Ortega Cruz was arrested for possession of cocaine, tampering with evidence, and abandoning or endangering a child, with additional warrants pending.
Desiree Elizabeth King was initially arrested for abandoning or endangering a child, but further investigation led to additional charges, including possession of cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, crack cocaine, and synthetic marijuana.
Sheriff’s Statement
Sheriff Byron Lyons emphasized the importance of collaborative law enforcement efforts, stating, “These arrests highlight the importance of cooperation between agencies and our unwavering commitment to holding those accountable who profit from poisoning our communities. We will continue to prioritize the safety of our citizens and protect our children from the dangers associated with illegal drug activity.”
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are expected to continue their work to combat drug-related crime in the area.
