City police on Wednesday solved a daylight robbery in which around Rs5 lakh was snatched from an e-mitra collection employee in the Jaysinghpura Khor area last month. Four men were arrested, and a minor who allegedly facilitated the crime was detained.
DCP (North) Karan Sharma said the case, reported on December 29, was cracked through detailed analysis of CCTV footage and intelligence inputs. The arrested accused were identified as Hemant Singh Naruka (20), Shiv Sain alias Babu (22), Himanshu Saini (23), and Dipesh Soni (19), all residents of Jaipur or nearby districts. The minor, who reportedly passed on information about the collection staff’s movements, was produced before juvenile justice authorities.
Police stated that the robbery occurred when the e-mitra employee was riding a motorcycle after collecting daily payments, with a cash bag hanging from the vehicle. Two men on another motorcycle, wearing helmets, followed him and snatched the bag before fleeing through narrow market lanes. A case was registered at Jaysinghpura Khor police station.
Investigations revealed that the robbery was pre-planned. The accused gathered details about the collection staff’s timings and route with the help of the minor, who worked at a local accessories and e-mitra shop. After conducting recces for four to five days, they executed the robbery when the employee left with the cash.
Police examined footage from nearly 500 CCTV cameras to trace the suspects’ movements through Jamdoli Road and Rohit Nagar. Instead of returning home, the accused checked into a hotel, celebrated New Year’s Eve on Kalwar Road, and later traveled via Kota to Ujjain, where they were arrested.
DCP Sharma said efforts are ongoing to recover the stolen amount and verify the gang’s involvement in other similar cases.
