The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police in Bangalore have arrested four individuals for selling IPL cricket match tickets on the black market. The suspects were caught selling tickets for the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday. The face value of each ticket was Rs1,200, but the accused were selling them for an inflated price of Rs10,000 per ticket, resulting in a significant profit from the scam.
The arrested individuals have been identified as S Charan Raj, H Harshavardhan Sanklecha, K Vinay, and B Venkata Sai. According to the police, Venkata Sai was responsible for sourcing the tickets, while the others were involved in selling them.
The operation began after receiving credible information, leading the police to arrest Charan Raj, from whom 12 tickets were seized. Following his statement, the police arrested the remaining three individuals and seized an additional 20 tickets. The police are continuing their investigation to determine how the group acquired the tickets.
The authorities are now working to uncover the full extent of the ticket black market operation and are taking steps to prevent similar scams during future IPL matches.
