In a significant drug bust, the city crime branch arrested four individuals and seized MD drugs worth Rs 20 lakh, along with a car and a bike. The accused are being interrogated regarding the source of the drugs.
According to DCP (Crime) Rajesh Tripathi, the operation began when the crime branch was gathering information on local drug peddlers. While patrolling MR-4 Road, police spotted a car and noticed the driver attempting to flee. A chase ensued, and the driver was arrested, along with Javed Rangrez.
The duo, identified as Aslam Sheikh from Sharjahan Colony and Javed Rangrez from Chandan Nagar, was found in possession of over 52 grams of MD drugs. They allegedly confessed to supplying the drugs to the city’s youth, though this information is still being verified by officials.
In a separate action, the crime branch arrested Firoz Khan and Munavvar Khan from near Lokhande Bridge, recovering 61 grams of MD drugs. The two, residents of Ratlam, were also caught after a chase. The total value of the drugs and vehicles seized is estimated to be Rs 20 lakh.
All four accused have been booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigations are ongoing.
