The Thane Crime Branch has arrested four individuals involved in a series of snatching incidents, including gold chains and mobile phones, across Thane, Bhiwandi, and Kalyan areas.
The arrested individuals, Touif Hussain (21), Mohammad Ali (36), Arbaz Jafari (27), and Suraj Salunke (19), are accused of committing approximately 70 thefts in the region. During interrogation, they confessed to targeting both men and women, stealing gold chains and mobile phones.
The police have recovered 510 grams of gold, 24 mobile phones, and five motorcycles, valued at around ₹50 lakh, from the suspects. These items were part of their criminal activities, which included snatching chains while riding on motorcycles. One suspect would ride, while another would snatch the victim’s jewelry.
According to a police officer, the suspects have a criminal history, and investigations have linked them to 42 criminal cases so far. The police were able to track the gang through intelligence inputs and technical evidence. Further investigations are continuing.
