BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The New Roads Police Department has arrested Ross Vangeffen, a former employee of Tractor Supply, following accusations of stealing merchandise and fraudulently processing returns for personal financial gain.
Vangeffen is facing felony theft and monetary instrument abuse charges. Authorities say Vangeffen took items from the Tractor Supply store at 2050 False River Dr., conducted fake returns, and credited over $8,000 to his debit card. Investigators reviewed store inventory, security footage, and financial logs, revealing that the items returned were never purchased.
Along with Vangeffen, a second individual, Charles McDonald III, was arrested for his involvement in obstructing the investigation. McDonald is accused of attempting to mislead officers and hinder the active pursuit of Vangeffen. McDonald faces charges of interfering with law enforcement.
Both men were arrested and booked into the Pointe Coupee Parish Detention Center. The New Roads Police Department expressed their gratitude for the public’s assistance in resolving the case.
