SAN JOSE, CA — A former San Jose apartment manager, Mariam Ahmadi, 51, has been arrested for allegedly using tenant information to open credit cards in their names, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office reported Monday.
Authorities executed a search warrant at Ahmadi’s home in connection with an ongoing identity theft investigation. Ahmadi previously worked at Sandalwood Apartments and a complex at 2080 Fruitdale Avenue.
Investigators say Ahmadi exploited her position to access personal tenant information, creating fake IDs, emails, and phone numbers to open fraudulent credit accounts. Deputies recovered ledgers containing victims’ personal data, multiple cellphones, more than two ounces of methamphetamine, and evidence of drug sales.
Ahmadi reportedly admitted to using and selling the stolen identities. She was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on multiple felony charges, including identity theft and drug-related offenses.
The case highlights the risks of personal information being misused by those in positions of trust, prompting authorities to urge tenants to monitor their credit reports and financial accounts closely.
