A former Sahuarita employee and a local business owner have been arrested following a thorough investigation into theft and fraud. Joe Marti, a former employee of the town, and Mike Felix, owner of Mikey’s Concrete, were both arrested on March 26 in connection with a scheme involving town-issued credit and fuel cards.
The investigation began in December 2024 after the town received an anonymous tip, prompting the Sahuarita Police Chief to order an investigation. According to the town of Sahuarita, Marti used his town-issued fuel card for personal vehicle purchases, which is just one of the many fraudulent activities discovered.
Marti is accused of using his position to secure kickbacks from Felix in exchange for ensuring Mikey’s Concrete received town construction contracts. Additionally, he allegedly bought landscaping equipment with town funds and sold it to Felix at discounted prices. The charges against Marti include two counts of trafficking in stolen property, four counts of fraud, and one count of felony theft.
Felix, who is facing two counts of conspiracy to commit fraud, two counts of trafficking in stolen property, and two counts of theft, is also implicated in the scheme.
The arrests mark a significant development in the case, with both individuals now facing multiple felony charges following the investigation.
